Laura Thrift has worked on Capitol Hill for more than a decade. Currently, she serves as the Legislative Director for Congressman Earl Blumenauer (OR-03), the founder and co-chair of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus. Laura oversees the congressman’s legislative agenda, supervises staff, and serves as his advisor for taxation, trade, and cannabis policy.

Prior to joining Congressman Blumenauer, she worked for Congressman David Price (NC-04), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, advising him on a variety of issues, including appropriations, healthcare, taxes, housing, economic development, budget, campaign finance reform, voting rights, immigration, nutrition, welfare, childcare, and telecommunications.

Laura is originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina and graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Political Science and a M.A. in Government.
